GBSS Inc is still run by a committee comprising family members of people with a disability, individuals with a disability and interested community members. Their passion and vision have brought the organisation a long way since its inception in 1990 and we are planning to continue to grow and develop bringing services and employment to the region.
The organisation was founded in 1990 by parents, teachers and interested community members to administer funding to employ Therapists for Early Intervention and School based Therapy programs for children with Disabilities 0-18yrs. The service received funding from the Dept of Youth and Community Care, now Dept of Communities, Disability Services, to provide Supported Accommodation in 1996 and shortly after 1997 began Respite Services in the district.
