Our Health and Recreation programs and activity goals are designed for the individual to focus on health and fitness aspects of their lives. This is a vital programme as health issues can have a negative impact on a person’s quality of life. These issues can affect their daily life, independence, longevity, social capacity, self-esteem and self-confidence.

“We all sing on the inside, it doesn’t matter what it sounds like on the outside” Beautiful Day Words & Music: Grant Thornton Mandolin & Vocals: Grant Thornton Bass: Tom Spence Drums & Percussion: Andy Wilmott All the GBSS mob at 44 Short Street”

The individuals’ programmes are designed around learning skills, being active and participating in healthy physical activity within the community. In the course of the programme they will experience a range of physical and social activities of their choice. They will have the opportunity to connect with a local gymnasium where an individual exercise assessment and program can be arranged and the use of gym equipment demonstrated. Walking and swimming are also encouraged due to their fantastic therapeutic benefits. Individuals will have access to information on health and fitness to assist them in making lifestyle choices. Programs are tailored to be one-to-one or in a group setting. It is hoped that engagement in an individually tailored programme will lead to fuller participation in community sporting clubs and events. Programmes are regularly reviewed to cater to the changing interests of each individual and their needs.
